The small lots of Chardonnay, Pinot blanc and Riesling grown at Hugh & Mary Vineyard live quiet close together (it’s almost like the grapes already knew each other). In 2014 long hang times and an extended growing season allowed for the development of complex flavours in all three varietals. Beautiful weather at harvest also gave us the flexibility to harvest at our leisure, resulting in wines that are classically proportioned and show case complex fruit flavours.
The subtle and full bodied nature of Chardonnay and Pinot blanc balanced by the firm acidic and aromatic characteristics of the Riesling and Gewürztraminer is what make this blend so dynamic and refreshing. The secret sauce? 8% aromatic Riesling, 32% round bodied Pinot blanc, 12% easy going unoaked chardonnay and 48% of our glorious Gew.
This wine is summer in a bottle. The bold acidity of the Riesling, the rich roundness of the Pinot blanc and the freshness of the unoaked Chardonnay join forces in the fight against monotony. Green apple and flint on the nose and pineapple and lemon on the pallet. Pairs well with sushi, roasted chicken and seafood (all the seafood).
