To say that 2013 was an incredible growing season would be an understatement. Heavy rains in the spring followed by an overdose of sunshine for the duration of the summer made for the kind of season a winemaker only dreams of. These Pinot noir grapes from Hugh & Mary Vineyards were hand-picked over two sun-soaked days in late October.
This Rosé is made with 100% Pinot noir grapes. The grapes were pressed in our half-ton basket press after the grapes were left to sit on the skins for just over forty-eight hours. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and bottled in late May.
A beautiful watermelon colour and strawberry on the nose make this Rosé a welcome splash of summer. Crisp notes of rhubarb and a hint of nutmeg give it a rich, refreshing finish. We often find that a dry Rosé and an afternoon of Okanagan sunshine is just what the doctor ordered. A coupe of oysters and some salmon on the BBQ are also a nice touch.
