For us, making Pinot noir is truly a labour of love. All of our Pinot is produced exclusively with grapes grown by family owned and operated Hugh & Mary Vineyard. The hot summer days and cool nights make this vineyard prime Pinot growing country. The vines range from 5 to 18 years of age and are a mix of clone 667 and 115. The grapes were hand-picked on a beautiful weekend in October.
We’ve had a love affair with Pinot Noir ever since we read The Heart Break Grape and one might argue that this wine gets a little more love and attention than all the others (that’ll be our little secret, right?). These grapes were pressed in our half-ton basket press. The fruit was cold soaked over several days and then fermented in small, individual lots and aged for just shy of 12 months in a mixture of French and American oak.
This dynamic wine is light enough for salmon and rich enough for duck. It has also been known to play well with risotto, chicken and mushrooms. Flavours of black currant and strawberry combined with a deep ruby colour make this the kind of bottle you may not want to share... it’s your call.

A ripe nose of sweet strawberry fruit, violet fragrance and oak spice sets up the palate for fleshy flavours of cherry and black raspberry with just the right touch of forest floor. Mid-weight, full of pleasure, well-made and nicely balanced pinot for a fair price. ~ DJ Kearney – wine educator and wine writer
