We typically harvest the Gewürztraminer before all the other grapes so you might say these grapes get some VIP treatment. The 2013 Hugh & Mary Vineyard Gewürztraminer was hand-picked over two days and left to sit on the skins for twenty-four hours to forty-eight hours.
Hugh & Mary Vineyard grew some amazing looking fruit in 2013 and the Gewürztraminer was no exception. These beautiful, pink coloured clusters were pressed in our half-ton basket press. The wine was then fermented in stainless steel tanks and bottled in late May.
This dynamic wine is light enough for salmon and rich enough for duck. It has also been known to play well with risotto, chicken and mushrooms. Flavours of black currant and strawberry combined with a deep ruby colour make this the kind of bottle you may not want to share... it’s your call.

2013 Gewurztraminer | 87 points!
Quite aromatic with some interesting lees aromas and what appears to be some milky malolactic notes. The palate is crisp, fresh and clean, a lighter, racier style of Gewurz with stone fruit and a zippy, spicy finish. ~ Rhys Pender – Master of Wine
