This bottle of wine is a combination of 17-year-old vines from Hugh & Mary Vineyard and 5-year-old vines from our friends Buck and Maria’s vineyard in the Similkameen. The grapes from the Similkameen were harvested at the very beginning of October and the Hugh & Mary grapes came almost three weeks later. Both harvest dates filled with sunshine and the grapes were all picked by hand.
We are big lovers of Marechal Foch (even though it is not the easiest to make). These grapes were hand picked and pressed in our half-ton basket press. The fruit was cold soaked over several days and then fermented in small, individual lots in brand new American oak barrels for just shy of a year.
Aromas of drak chocolate and ripe berries coupled with a round, rich palate make this the kind of full-bodied wine that will keep you coming back for more. Flavours of dark fruits and spice pair well with cold nights, crackling fires and old movies. Decant an hour before tasting (if you can bear to wait!).
